STEP 1: Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Butter: Gives buttery flavor and allows the bread crumbs to get crispy.Hot Cheetos: The star of the show, these add flavor and crunch.Breadcrumbs: I like to use Panko breadcrumbs because they are super crunchy.I like to use more cheddar cheese, so I mix 2 cups of cheddar with one cup of one of the other cheeses. Cheese: I like to use a combination of easy melting cheeses like cheddar cheese, Gruyere, Monterey Jack, Muenster, Havarti, Gouda, or Mozzarella.Smoked Paprika: Adds some layer of flavor.Cayenne Pepper: This adds a tiny bit of spice, but not much.Salt: You will need salt for the pasta water, the sauce and the topping.Milk: Whole milk is going to give you a nice creamy texture.Butter: You want to use unsalted butter.Another pasta that would work is shells or rotini. Pasta: This is macaroni and cheese, so I use macaroni noodles here.You can totally customize this pasta dish and add even more cayenne pepper, jalapeños, hot sauce, or use pepper jack cheese if you want it spicier. The hottest thing about it would be the topping. There is a touch of cayenne pepper, but that really doesn’t make it too spicy. This is not a very spicy mac and cheese recipe, it has more of a hint of spiciness. But they do get sprinkled on top to give the macaroni and cheese a delightful, crisp texture. So, this recipe doesn’t have any Cheetos mixed into the mac and cheese (they would just get soggy and you wouldn’t be able to taste them). If you are a Cheeto fan, I recommend trying the spicy ones! What is Hot Cheetos Mac and Cheese? Honestly, if you have a bag of them they are pretty hard to stop eating, definitely a favorite snack. I guess I could have just picked up a tray of frozen pulled pork and baked it in the oven or even in my microwave though, so I guess my issue was that I just didn’t feel like driving to the store….This super creamy Mac and Cheese recipe gets its spicy twist of flavor from Flamin Hot Cheetos, which get crushed up and sprinkled on top. Plus, once I had these made I wanted to eat them immediately and didn’t feel like going to the grocery store, buying a pork shoulder and then waiting all afternoon while it cooked in my slow cooker. I originally though about filling my macaroni and cheese bowls with pulled pork, but then opted for even more macaroni and cheese because nothing goes better with Flamin’ Hot Cheetos breaded deep fried mac & cheese than even more mac & cheese! When I first got the pan I figured it would end up just sitting in a kitchen cabinet with my Slap Chop, my breakfast sandwich maker and all the other random kitchen gadgets I bought and never ended up even taking out of the box, but it’s quickly becoming one of my most used kitchen tools. I know that buying a specific pan just to make some macaroni and cheese bowls might seem like a waste of money, but you can also use it to make pizza bowls, cornbread bowls, scrambled eggs in pancake bowls, biscuit bowls and popcorn chicken in waffle bowls. If you don’t have a deep fryer I’m sure you could bake them as well, but if you go that route you’ll have to figure out the temperature and timing on your own. To make these all you need to do is pack some macaroni and cheese in a Bake-a-Bowl Pan freeze it and then bread and deep fry the bowls. The idea for these macaroni and cheese bowls came to me after I made my Macaroni and Cheese Taco Shells, only this time instead of a panko breading I decided to go with my old friend Flamin’ Hot Cheetos!
